Hi All,

I have goats with coughs. I want to deworm them for the winter and use Ivermectin Injectable orally. I am not very good at administering sub-q injections and if I can do orally, I will. What do y'all recommend as a dose. I've read 2cc's per 20#. If this is correct, I've also read that it should be administered a few times. What's your recommendations for repeat doses?

Just a little more info - all of them have a dry cough when they run around, which screams lungworm, right?

One of them, my "Maeby" baby, she has a little runny nose and coughs a more phlegm-like cough occasionally (but also has a dry cough when she runs).

Is there a preferred antibiotic for this?

I want to make sure my goaties are in good shape to handle this winter! They are living in a stable this winter with a heifer so the better their immune system the better! Thanks so much!!!! This is my first winter with goats so I am bit nervous!!!

Well, maybe I need to get over this sub-q aversion! I did it when I banded Buster and he eventually got a welt and it just makes me so nervous!

Thanks for responding happybleats!

So - Ivermectin Injectable 1 cc per 40#. I can do that. How many repeats?

I can buy Tylan 200 at tractor supply, I believe. I will use that if the ivermectin does not work to help the coughs. 1 cc per 25# ever 12 hours for how long? Thanks!
