ikeep forgeting to ask...
i purchased the jeffers tattoo pliers when i started needing to tattoo kids.
well i dont use it often. 2020 was the first year i actually used it on more then a few goats. the problem is one side the letters dont fit in tight at all so you clamp the ear and if you dont do it super hard then that letter doesnt show on that side.numbers work because i only need three spaces.
any suggestions on what i can do to make it more secure or closer to the metal bracket that holds the letters on ?i really didnt want to buy another one.and if i do any suggestions on a better one? or one that would be easier to tattoo nigerian dwarf kids. my own kids i keep i dont tattoo until i sell them or take them to a show so at least they are bigger and easier to tattoo

Ok so what you have is two numbers and then a letter. Soooo like 12W or vise versa. Try putting 3 number in and use it on a thick pile of papers and see if it is just the letters that are the issue or if maybe the pliers are bent. If it’s just letters then maybe you have the wrong size letters. If the pliers are bent you might have to buy new ones or you could try a small folded up piece of paper behind the letter. What it’s sounding like to me though is probably something with the pliers :/

Did you get the letters and numbers with the pliers? Different brands fit the pliers differently. You could call Jeffers and get the individual pieces you need that go with that set of pliers.

yes i bought the letters at the same time. i was just hoping someone else had this problem and came up with a solution.

okay so new question!
i guess im going to have to get a new pair. what about stone 5/16 for nigerian dwarf kids? the ones i have now are so big for the little ears.
i also saw they have a stone .300 not sure the size on those though. any experience with these ?
