Just milked Reba 😄

I am weaning Reba's boys. She has been separated from them for about 24 hours now. They are almost 9 weeks old amd super humpy!! Some of the boys have started taking bottles for me when they get hungry. Anyway, this is what I got from her.
Food Liquid Rice milk Fluid Ingredient
It is almost a half gallon. I am very pleased with her. After building a new stand that is not raised off the ground, she was so easy to milk. So far, a fantastic first time freshener.

I know there was maybe another 16 oz left, but wanted to stop while she was relaxed.

Yay- that’s awesome! 🤩
Are you planning on slowly increasing height of stand with blocks or something? So she can get used to being up at a height that is more comfortable for you to milk her at? Lol
Or just let her get used to being milked and the. She’ll (hopefully) be ok with higher stand?
just curious what you were thinking of. Lol

I think she must just be on the flat ground stand. I have one other goat so far who would be really difficult about the ramp and higher stand. It is hard to get them up there when they just try to jump off and out smart you. I tried wrangling Frances last year who hated the stand with the ramp. Reba freaked out like it was crawling with spiders. Apparently some goats just don't ramp. Could NOT win the battle. I realized it is just easier to work with the quirk and have two stands. I just sit on the ground or on a pillow and milk. No dragging a giant angry/confused/frightened goat up a ramp to the stand and trying to lift her legs up and put them on the stand. I'd film it, if I wasn't losing my mind. Lol. Now I just drag them over and put their head in the catch. Less room to go wrong!

Hey- if it works, it works 😁
If ever I get around to trying to milk one or two of mine again… I’d have to drag the 2 into a stall to shut them in away from their babies for the night. Then tie one up while milking the other… I learned before it doesn’t work to put food in for the goat on the stand if other goats are around they will just stand on hind feet to try and get it and cause a big hassle 😆

Yes! Everyone feels they want to be part of it and get fed, too.

I had to laugh as at my age sitting on the ground would not be an option. More power to you! (y)
Congratulations on all that milk.
