I'm looking to buy a lamancha doe and I was told she is bred to a nubian buck and due to kid in march. This doe is also going to be a year old in March. This is going to be my first time owning a full sized goat and I've never even seen a full grown lamancha in person.

So my question is... how do the lamancha and nubian compare in size? The nubians I have seen are HUGE!! are lamanchas very large? How likely would this doe I'm looking at have kidding problems considering this is going to be her first time kidding? Anyone breed lamanchas to nubians? What are your results? And if anyone has a lamancha/Nubian cross I would love to see pictures!!

From what I understand, LaManchas are a mid-to-large size breed, usually being smaller than another standard, while nubians can be pretty big.

However, if the buck she was bred to isn't horribly huge, you shouldn't have too many problems, especially if she's a big girl herself.

The breeders of lamanchas I have seen are also very large. Bred to a nubian she shouldn't have issues especially because nubians tend to have smaller babies then most standard dairy goats.

We have a NuMancha doe. Her mother was a LaMancha and her sire was a Nubian. I have heard of lots of people having this cross and they seem to do okay.

    Here is our LaMancha/Nubian doe,

These has some boer involved but heres a boer/la mancha and she was bred to a Nubian and its a good example of the varying results. This doe is from last year, pics are old though, need to get new ones lol

And this is the same breeding the year before that, again the pic is old. Gonna be interesting this girl is bred this year to a nubian buck.

This buckling was also a la mancha doe, to a nubian buck. Dont have any better pics of him though, he was wethered and sold last year. But he had long floppy ears, looked just like a nubian.

Thank you, that is our rescue girl. Unfortunately she came up CAE positive and is now symptomatic and so will have to be put down as soon as she kids next month. Heartbreaking all the way around but I don't regret rescuing her or the time spent with her. Just sad that her kidding is going to be so bittersweet.

I think you will be very happy with a NuMancha. :)
