Our second grader is studying poetry and needs to take something to class.

Any poems on goats come to mind? Rhyming would be great. Not too long, but cute.

Thanks for the help in advance? I can check websites if anyone has a spot to check.

One day there was a goat,
Who really liked to eat oats.
He ran around and played all day,
    being all happy, and gay.
Next a dark cloud came near,
and the little billy, drank some beer.
Drunk he was, so he picked a fight,
so that little dark cloud, went amazingly bright.
Down came a thunder bolt, at that goat,
and destroyed much more, than just his coat.
The cloud ran away, back to the ocean.
The goat applied, some antiseptic lotion.
That little goat, was all scratched and bruised,
so he figured, his beer was far too brewed!
Now that goat, will be more nice,
and eat those oats, with sugar and spice.

    Goat

What bearded animal helps on the farm?
    The goat!
What friendly creature is loaded with charm?
    The goat!
Who can produce both milk and wool?
    The goat!
Who grows long horns like a bull?
    The goat!
What creature can mow your lawn,
Eating the grass until it's gone?
What animal can you always count on?
    The goat!

    How long?
I can come up with something short like

    A goat for milk
    A goat for meat
A goat to sell for oats to eat.

Or longer if you want it.

Ok this is about 1st grader.

    A goat to milk
    A goat for meat
A goat to sell for oats to eat

    Milk for our bellies
    Meat for our plate
    Oats to make bread
    Arn't goats neat.

    Thanks everyone.

I had found the first two on an Internet search, but beer and second grade didn't go together.

Shelly, I'll give you longer one to my daughter and see what she thinks.

    Thanks again!

You can take a few lines out of the poem and use it. I didn’t think about the beer. :(
