One of my NDG kids who is about 13 weeks old lost his voice a week ago and it’s still not back. He still has a voice, but it’s much higher pitched than before. He is acting totally normal....curious, jumping around, eating and drinking. His temperature is also normal. I’d think if this were from yelling (he does his fair share of yelling at me when I go inside, more than the other two I’d say (he was a bottle baby and is super attached)) that his voice would have recovered by now. Thought I’d ask on here before calling the farm vet out to check him out. Any ideas?

If he is acting OK otherwise he should be OK.

Has he been verbal a lot lately?

If he's eating and drinking normally, I wouldn't worry about it. Although you could give him some chewable vitamin c for a few days to see if he's just got a wee bit of a sore throat. For a guy that young I'd do 250mg twice a day. (Just break a 500 in half...)

If it's weaning time, then that's most likely what's causing his lost voice.

Honey can sooth his throat. 1/2-1 teaspoon a few times a day for a few days
