Lump on face

217 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  toth boer goats
I have a 1 and a bit year old goat who is usually really loving and loves sniffing my face and stuff but today I went out to feed them and I noticed a lump near his mouth. It is hurting him I think because he won't let me touch it and he is turning his head away from me which is strange cause he loves head rubs. Anywho it is a hard lump about the size of a marble. I have one other goat who doesn't have any lumps on him. The lump isn't scabbing and is still covered in hair

Check inside his mouth… could he have gotten a seed head poking into his mouth? The swelling could be his body trying to get it worked out…

Yes it looks like he has a splinter or something poking his mouth
Just dont put your fingers in his back jaw teeth. They are used to cut through branches. Very sharp & dangerous!

I agree. Try very warm compresses to draw it forward and apply a drawing salve. TSC carries one for horses or you can use Bentonite clay mixed with water to form a paste. Apply a few times a day. Once it starts to clean out..flush with a very weak iodine solution of iodine and saline. May need to do a few times then let it heal.

Could be from being hit too.
But I also agree with the others.
