Mastitis??

948 Views 8 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  toth boer goats
This morning, after I finished milking my doe, I felt her udder and I felt some clumps inside. They are firm but when I felt them and gently squeezed, it didn't seem to bother her at all. Is this mastitis? Will it go away? Can her kids still drink from her? I didn't notice any blood or clumps when milking, so I'm not sure what to think.
This is the same doe, Venus, that I did the Lopsided Udder thread on.

She may have a little congestion.
If the milk seems ok and milking fine, the babies are OK to nurse her.
If she is a really good milker.
You will have to milk her as needed, if the kids cannot keep up.

So the congestion will go away on its own?
No. You have to do very warm compresses, massage and milk.
