Metritis what antibiotics

687 Views 2 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  AndersonRanch
I have a doe that lost her kids and held onto her placenta for about 14 hours. She now has some nasty stuff coming out and it doesn’t smell overly pleasant.
When the vet thought my dog had metritis they gave me baytril to give to her.
So I have baytril and I have slightly expired penicillin, which do I grab?

Penicillin is good for this. 1 cc per 20 pounds sub q 2 times a day. Be sure to pull plunger back to check for blood. No blood is good to go. See blood re-adjust and try again. Pen in the vein can kill a goat.
I would also flush her with a 50/50 white vinegar and warm water flush. If you have access to quality essential oils. And a few drops lavender and tea tree. Flush until she rinses fairly clean
