For those of you who are on milk testing. How do you start the milk, in other words I start am milking (lock the kids up at night) about 2 wks. If the idea is to get as many milk records going do you start when the kids are born? Milk, weigh and then feed it to the kids??

I think, in order to have an adequate test, you would have to pull the kids at birth and bottle feed. That's what everyone that I know that tests does. It's a big deal to those folks. I know a gal...that thinks kids are a real pain...she wants the milk...luckily she's in another state.

I know a breeder that Dam raises and does milk test.
And she starts separating kids at night at like two weeks :)

That was kind of what I was thinking. Dam raise for 2 weeks, then lock kids up at night. But, I'm wondering if I should separate completely at 2 weeks and bottle feed from there. I am home most of the time so it wouldn't be a big deal to bottle. If I did bottle the kids starting at 2 weeks, how often would I bottle feed?
