What wormer do you use or your goat kids? How often? Do you do one dose or consecutive days?

Anyone use cydectin pour on for cattle? One dose? Thanks! Any input is appreciated!

I'm new to the goat world and I got my kids about a month ago. They are still on the bottle. One breeder used cydectin on him before i got him and recommended worming every 3 weeks until 6 months. I was curious to see if anyone else did this and how often on kids. If not cydectin then what else.

I prefer Valbazen for kids...it kills tape worms as well...its oral so no shot and safe...we only treat when needed..have a fecal done to know if you need to worm ...also check for cocci which needs a different treatment...I personally do not like cydectin...I know many usei t with no issues...I just do not like it..plus it smells like paint thinner..
I recommend you read this article on worming..

for cocci I prefer Baycox which is ordered at horseprerace.com...or otc sulfa drugs such as sulmet..

Does the valbazen come as a drench that you give orally or does it come in an oral form? Where do you get it? What dosage do you use? Thanks!

we use cydectin pour on, 1 cc per 20 lbs orally.
It does not treat tapeworms, which is a problem on our farm with our growing kids.
i really like synanthic for an all around wormer including tapeworms.

happybleats: you are using valbazen at a way higher dose than we are, we were using it at 5 cc per 100 lbs, so 1 cc per 20 lbs, valbazen can be given 3 days in a row for tapworms, one time for general worms.

Safegaurd has its place, but overall in my opinion is a waste of money. It is great for gardia which is carried by raccoons and can be gotten from sharing drinking water with them. Mostly I use Safegaurd liquid for my cats and dogs. LOL.

we use ivermectin injectable for mites and lice control. Depending on the infestation 1 to 3 cc per 100 lbs sub-q.
