Hello everyone!

I've read that 18-21 gauge is the norm for drawing blood, but I have a 23 gauge 1inch. Has anyone ever tried a gauge that small? I've heard a needle too small might mess up results, but I don't know if that's true.

I also have a 20gauge needle but it's 1.5 inches. Is that too long?

I am not in a rush, so I can get other needles, but I was wondering if these needles would work in an emergency.

Thank you!

I used 18g needles, but have heard 20g will work well enough too :) I think 23 may be too small.. But someone told me if I used a 22g that I just had to mark it on the papers for the lab and let them know..
I think, your best bet with knowing about the 23g would be to call the lab you plan to use and ask them. :) not sure if the 1.5in needle would be too long or not.. If your comfortable using it, I don't see why not..
