Never had this before

My.little Dutchgirl presented with a bright red vuvla this morning. It was swollen to about 3xs the normal size. She is 45 days old. She weighs 23lbs. She is short & wide. Normal temperature. She urinates and stops, wags her tail the finishes urinating. She has normal pelleted feces.
Have you dealt with this? I heard her scream this morning.
I applied a cold compress for 5 minutes, and applied Benadryl gel. Its still red
Any suggestion would really be appreciated.

Was she near an aggressive breeding buck?

That looks really painful.
Banamine for pain and swelling.

Is she peeing blood?

I would have a a vet check her out.

I haven’t seen that before either.
Did she scream when peeing?
I wonder if some witch Hazel patted on would help.
Some ACV might help her out if kidney issue…

I would suspect bee sting or wasp..or similar. They are out here thick already. Found yellow jackets in my coop 🙄 With her crying out and now red and swollen..would make sense to be injury or bite/ sting. Cool compresses was great idea as is the benedryl. I would keep cool compresses up as often as you can and re dose benedryl this afternoon snd if needed tonight again.

Prep H ointment works wonders to bring down swelling and irritation on vulvas. Might be a good add along with everything else everyone has mentioned.

I just went out and aproned 3 small bucklings! My little Dutch girl is up grazing. I checked her vulva, the swelling is less, the color is not so vibrant. Shes keeping it covered with her tail.
Thankyou so much for all the information. I will reapply a cold compress this afternoon
And thankyou for the Prep H reminder! Ill have to go purchase some.

Poor thing. Ouch. Sorry I’m late to the party but I’m so glad it seems to be getting better. Everyone had great suggestions so there’s nothing I can add.

Her vulva is back to normal size & color. Shes keeping her tail down to cover herself. And this morning she didnt eat her grain, she just wanted to lay in cool grass. So Im watching her today. Thankyou for asking.

☝🏻 I agree, but I’m a bit paranoid lately After losing Godric it can never hurt to check.

I too agree.

Another thought of the irritation,
is her mama licking her there by over cleaning perhaps?

I grabbed her temp. 103° and we are 80°. So no temp. She is grazing. Her girly parts look almost normal. But she doesnt like me like she used to. 😩 Guess ice cold compress , benadryl gel and now this rectal temp. Im a bad person! 😂🤣🤷‍♀️

Lol I always find that with goats! If anything is hurting or wrong you are the last person they want to be around until they feel better, even though you are the one trying to help
