    What breed?

Did you put him on momma's milk or milk replacer? If replacer what kind?

    Has DH taken a temp?

    Has DH given him anything?

he's alpine, 2 days old, and he is just nursing off of mama. dh hasn't taken a temp yet, and he hasn't given him anything. i told him not to do anything until i had instructions for him. i go home in an hour, but i can call him and tell him what to do.

I would give him a bit of pepto - but being on momma is the best thing for him. Maybe some others will have some ideas since he is so new......

A bit of pepto and is this mom's first kid? if so she may not be cleanin him up like she should?

Also you might get some electrolights in him just to keep him hydrated and balanced.

yellow, goopy poop while on mum is more often than not just from mum's milk being so rich, normally they get used to it and it clears up on its own, but I have one doe, her twins will scour continually for the first month or so until they start eating solids. When you milk her out (she's a 75% boer 25% dairy) her milk is basically yellow and really really thick. Just very rich. She raises some of the biggest kids on the place.

Can you post the pic here?

Is the buckling still happy, walking round, eating from mum, or is he lethargic?

I try to practice 'benign negligence' , basically, you dont need to worry about treating them if they are happy, treat them if their behaviour or eating habits change from normal.

he acts like he feels fine. our advice lady said to clean him up and watch him, if he starts acting sick to pull him and give him some pepto and electrolytes... so i guess i just watch and wait then.

give me a second... i will post the pic.
