Hi everyone,

I was hoping there’d be people willing to share their process for weaning kids. There is so much information out there so having one spot to look at what’s worked for people on this site May be helpful. We just weaned our first group of kids and I can’t help but feeling like I could have done things differently to make the transition smoother. We dam raise our kids but I’m sure people who bottle raise would appreciate the information. Some things I’m specifically interested in are:

When do you start weaning, and at what intervals?
Do you worm kids as a preventative? When and with what?
Do you use coccida preventative? When and with what?
Do you give boosters such as pro bios, electrolytes, b12, etc?

I would love to hear about the whole process!
Thanks!!

Most of the time I just sell the kids and that is how I wean them. But when I don't sell them right away I separate them eather during the night or during the day and milk the does right before I put the kids back in with them. I start that when they are about 2 and a half months old. And that lasts about 2 weeks. Then I completely separate them for about 4 more months before I put them back in with their moms and they are fully weaned.
I dont give them anything extra than hay, water, minerals, and a bit of grain.
