hey all. this is my first "summer" having goats. every single one of them is PANTING non-stop. yes, its VERY hot here already...but is this normal? i can only imagine how bad it will get in a few months....will they die on me?? should i hose them down every day to keep 'em cool? any suggestions?? thanks, nella
If they do not go to the shade that could be a problem. Mine live in the shade but still breath fast and will pant for a few minutes sometime after grazing in the sun. The black ones are the worst. I would try to find a way to make the shade appealing to them.
put their hay, grain and water in the shade and they will be cooler while eating, also try combing the excess hair out
