Last night when I took my bottle babies their 10:00 pm bottle, I noticed that Pepper seemed to be in labor. She is a FF and was due on 2/4 so I have been keeping her and another doe that is due in the barn with the moms and kids. She wasn't acting like most of my does do, but something was clearly going on because she would lay down and be back up within a minute. She wasn't eating and she would back her butt up to the stall wall and just stand there.
So back to the house to get dressed in warmer clothes and let DH know I'm going back to the barn.
Went back and everything is still the same, no mucous but I could tell she was in labor, so I wrapped up in a horse blanket in the stall with her and fell asleep. Woke up at 1:00 to a solid red buckling laying in a pool of birth fluid. Suctioned him out and wiped his face good and moved him to her face. SHe tentatively cleaned him at first, then seemed to figure out that he was hers and dried him off good.
I am sitting there thinking, man I am tired, hurry up and spit out another so I can get some sleep. I knew she had at least 2 but it was 1:45 before she layed down and pushed out the other kid, a black head doeling. After Pepper pushed her out she just stayed in that position, so I cleared the doelings face and suctioned her out and moved her to Pepper's face and she started cleaning her up. I stayed until both had nursed and then I bounced Pepper and felt nothing more, so headed to the house to get some sleep. Of course I still had to get up at 7 to feed my bottle babies and check on the new kids, so all is well but I am tired.

congrats on the healthy arrivals! I am hoping this year to set up a place to sleep in the barn. It is to much work to bundle up and keep checking on them at night!

Congrats! :boy: :girl: Seems to be the thing so far this year.

Hey, at least you two don't have to drive to the barn and stay in the car to warm up.

Congrats on the twins!! Sounds like you had a long night!

We have a 5th wheel next to the barn just in case - but I hate sleeping in it - it scares me and I want to be in bed with hubby!
