What percent fat do my lactating does need in their diet or their grain to sustain them? They are ND goats making half a gallon each of rich 5%+ butterfat milk.

I've been taught by nutritionists that a goat (or most ruminants) should never get more than 5% fat in their diet because the fat can kill the bacteria in their gut.
