I had planned on selling Milky Way after a few shows, but now that I'm starting to rethink it, I'm looking for a good buck for her, and would like opinions on the ones I'm looking at. From everyone's comments on here, her worst features are her udder and her rump, so I've been looking for a buck with good udder genetics and a nice, level topline (I found a perfectly flat one...Kastdemur, too) So far, I've only found 2 bucks that seem to be what I'm looking for. All the others (from what I can read on their evaluation bits) seem to throw not-so-good udders (unless I"m misreading it). http://www.biogenicsltd.com/n511.html http://www.biogenicsltd.com/n385.html
Foxwood I was considering for milking, since Kastdemur's doesn't seem to be from a real heavy milking line. But, as I'm looking more and more at his daughter's udders, I'm thinking I may sacrifice production for show quality.
Definitely the Kastdemur's buck from those two, the Foxwood is really lacking in Nubian breed character, and the Kastdemur's buck has a lot more length of body and better rear leg angulation. I'm a big Kastdemur's fan though.
I found pics of his daughter's udders, as well as his dam's. http://www.hoanbu.com/Easy.html I was also looking at using a Saada buck, but one thing that bugs me about the Saada page is no pictures of the bucks... If someone's better than me at tracking down photos, I'd like to see a picture of him before I actually decide. http://www.biogenicsltd.com/n523.html http://www.saadagoats.com/goats.cfm?s=3&id=115
yeah I never got that with dairy people's sites... Why not put a photo of him on there? He will not have all of the traits as his dam! So I like it when they put 3-4 nice shots of the buck, and THEN shots of the dams udder and conformation.
If the bloodline is hoanbu than its a pretty good goat. Holly Buroker only goes for the best. This year she did realy well at nationals this year.
The bloodline's Kastdemur's, but Hoanbu bought him from them. I'm probably gonna go with him, since I still can't find a picture of that Saada buck. It's only $35 per straw, though a guy who has some wanted to charge me $75 per straw...
I like the first guy. He has better conformation. I too agree that people should put photos up of the bucks. I asked someone about that, and they said that usually the bucks are ugly, so they don't put photos up of them. But, as a buyer, I want to know what they look like. I can look past a lot of the ugliness and see the points that I am looking for.
