Ive been considering taking some crop ground and planting cover crops to rotationally graze a herd of nanny’s on throughout the year. I’ve considered Sunn hemp, corn, and Sudan grass as forages that yield a lot of tonnage and allow the goats to graze high. I would stagger planting dates and crops to maximize the growing season and maturity dates. The main thing I would like to achieve is winter forage providing weather is favorable. Any recommendation or comment on all this?

I think that's a great idea! I heard that brassicas and clover are not so good for goats. Other than that, they'll probably eat most of anything.

Dry nannies (does) don't need as much protein as young goats so can maintain weight on poorer forage.
