I bought a first freshener saanen goat, her udder strated to form too early (after almost one month of pregnancy) well round filled udder. Now after 3 monthes of pregnancy her udder started to shrink a little. Is there any explanation for this?? Or it will fill up and get bigger again befor she kids?? NB: she is still pregnant.

She may have had a precocious udder, hard to say. Do you have pics? What is her due date?

Is she housed with other goats?

Another goat, even a one year old, might be nursing on her. Some dairy does will allow anything to nurse!

But also, not enough calories, dehydration, parasites, and selenium deficiency could cause decreases in milk production.

    I know right.
I caught one of my does, not even a dairy goat, letting her yearling daughter suck on her just the other day. She kicked her off when she realized I was watching them.
