What does "Polled" Mean?? Does it mean they don't have horns or what? I was looking on capriola's site and for Ginger Pye, it says: Horns: Polled But for Leona is says Horns: Disbudded Help? I'm too curious
bred in genetics .... they are born with no horns at all ....they have none.... Horns: Disbudded means ....they were removed by a human...
Ok thankyou.. I knew what disbudded meant but i was like, what? Polled? Polled goats sound pretty cool :thumb: Thanks toth
Alyssa, you have to be careful with polled goats because if you breed a polled doe to a polled buck there is a significant chance of getting intersexed or hemaphrodite (sp?) kids ...
Oh ok thankyou I'll keep that in mind for when i get goats I wish i could move right now and start with goats My friend has some pet goats and they just sit around and eat grass But i want to actually breed and show goats, i think it would be awesome Now im excited :leap:
That would be good for you to show....it is well awarded and makes you feel proud when your beautiful goat wins the shows.....Now that is bragging rights...well deserved...
Well keren just offered to take me to some shows and i am looking forward to possibly going to one! One of the biggest ones that everyone works hard to get into.. Sydney Royal Easter Show So Cool :thumb: I think it will be a good learning experiance for me to go to a goat show first-hand lol
Oh that would be wonderful.. ..you will have fun...but it is a very long day ...........that is the only draw back...
I love polled goats. Because I hate getting them disbudded. But it is true to never breed polled to polled or there is a high chance for hermaphrodite kiddos. Congrats on being able to go to your first show! How exciting! You will have lots of fun. Like Pam said, it is a long day but a lot of fun.
