I didn't see this thread yesterday, they get buried rather fast.
But I don't think she is bred, if she was, she'd be 4 months along now and due in December.
Her pooch doesn't look like a heavy bred doe, and she has no udder development.
How young is she? If the oops happened in July and you haven't seen any signs of a heat cycle every 3 weeks for the past 4 months then I would say she is bred. Does she flag and call? Do you have a buck that she shows interest in? If she is preggo and has 1 more month before kidding then her udder may begin to drop & fill in the next week or two since she is a first timer.
If you use the search box in the upper left and search "bleach test" there is a simple at home test you can do with a sample of her urine. Of course it is not 100% accurate but maybe it will help you!
Have you noticed any change in her girly parts? Thats going to be the most help to you.... I have a young doe that is just poofy looking back there where as my bred doe is generally tighter looking. Her vulva pointed down more after she was bred but the other does is always like that. If you went off a general pooch test some would probably say the younger doe is bred.
I think she is possibly bred or you may have caught her on a cycle. Was she flagging? Has she been acting needy? Any interest in bucks? When I have a question about heat or not I go to my friends house and rub on their big stinky buck then come home and see how the doe in question acts. I also rub a towel on the buck and put in with the girl I think is in heat... she'll respond!
She just looks totally diff from my other girls ....crud if she is bred it happend about 8 weeks of age .... She was in pen at fair w young buck baby that was about 3 weeks older ..... Buuuut that was late July so idk if she would have cycled that early in season .....Just one of those crazy things that is not likely but possible
And I have never had a prego doe before so I am running on zero experience here
I didnt realize she was so young. They will change as they age and it doesnt mean they are bred. With that said, I'm not so sure now. I would send in blood work to bio tracking to be sure. When you said young I assumed over 6 months but under a year... I highly doubt she was bred at 8 weeks though
That is why I posted ....... My research tells me different things.... Seems crazy I know but the sudden belly she has gotten in the last 3 weeks had me concerned ....
It could be that she is changing because of age. Ive got a doe that ballooned at 7 months... she looked bred but I dont have a buck so I knew she wasnt. It was all just her body maturing. Hoping thats the case for your girl.
I agree...she is hard to judge...I would pull blood send to biotracking..they are fast and accurate...its only $5 I think...well worth the effort to see about her..they also include an estimate gestation..which can be helpful if she is indeed bred...depending on her size and breed,,, you may need to have a vet on speed dial...
at 8 weeks they can come in heat...but its not as common...Nigerians are known to come in heat younger
We did the bleach test on the kid that we assume is pregnant, and a 2 year old doe who was bred a little over a week ago, the girl bred a little over a week ago tested negative, but the doeling tested positive twice..... I read somewhere that imidiatly testin a doe after she was bred will test negative, and does that are farther along will test more accurately.... I'm nervous now
