Jasper was disbudded weeks ago. all healed perfectly, no problems at all. This afternoon I went to feed and saw blood. The way I would describe it looking previously would be two black caps were there after disbudding and healing. Now one of the black "caps" is GONE and it looks fleshy and was bleeding. I immediately cleaned it and put the blue dye on. I'm concerned because I've never had this happen. Are they supposed to pop off entirely? The girls never ended up like this after healing. The black caps always remained. HELP please!!
the black "cap" is the scab and it should always come off. His probably came off prematurely so it was a little bloody. You probably just didn't notice it on the girls.
yup the caps always come off, as with anything that is healing it starts to itch, he just knocked it off a tad early with his scratching. Happends from time to time.
