I have a small herd of purebred registered Nubians, they come from disease free herds. I currently live with my parents (moving in a few months) and my dad is thinking of trading someone a horse for some goats. These goats he is potentially trading for are brush goats that have never been tested for anything nor have they been disbudded (mine have). What would you suggest in this situation? I would be devestated if my herd gets a disease after I have worked so hard to prevent it!

Can you explain that having non tested animals with yours could be a potential health risk?
I mean, since you are aware of this maybe he's not? This would be a great oppurtunity for both of you in the respect that you are going to have to be very up front & able to explain without being defensive.
Try to approach it as a learning experience for him, you never know.
