Pounds of milk

I have been writing down the weight of the milk on a daily basis and it's interesting how the pounds of milk doesn't always correspond with the amount of milk.

I had almost 8 (just under, around 7.75 cups) cups of milk which equated to 3.71 pounds and a couple days later 7.25 cups of milk, which equated to 3.94 pounds of milk.

Just thought that was interesting. Both were with kids separated for 12 hours.

She is about 3 weeks since the birth of her bucklings.

I am hoping she continues to give me more milk. I would love about 4.5-5 pounds of milk with her kids separated for 12 hours.

Measure can be tricky as some count the foam lol. Im betting cream weighs more too?? Never weighed it but that might change a little from day to day.

I was able to measure 4.42 pounds this morning with a 12 hour fill. Kids were separated during those 12 hours. It was about 8.5 cups of milk. I find this so interesting. I always just measured in cups, but love measuring in pounds!

Is this considered maintaining barn records? I have seen people post barn records vs milk star-type records. I am very interested in doing this formally.
Milk stars are always measured in pounds - the amount of heavier cream can make one gallon weigh more than a doe that is light in butterfat
