Hi all,
So my Doe chewed her copper Bolous today. She is about 2 months post breeding and showing lots of signs of copper deficiency. She got one 4 gram copasure capsule and she chewed it a lot. I tried hiding it in a marshmallow because we don’t have a pill gun, but clearly that isn’t gonna work.

My fear is that she didn’t get enough copper to help her and I’m extra concerned considering she’s pregnant. Should I dose her again? Or should I wait? Should she only get a half dose? I’m sure You can overdose copper but I’m not sure how large the margin for safety is.

I just want her to be as healthy as possible throughout the pregnancy. Any advice is helpful!! Thanks!

Don't freak out, it's no big deal if they end up chewing them. Not preferable, but no biggie. ;) Won't harm her pregnancy in any way. You will just have to wait and see for dosing again. In three months if she looks like she isn't improving, then you can dose again.

Just for future ease of bolusing, you can open up the capsule and hide the rods in any treats they like. For example mine love mashed banana, applesauce works well too. Some people use fig newtons, a wadded up piece of bread, any treat they like will work.
