Can I cover the part of the horn thats exposed? Flies and gnats are getting into the opening of the broken horn. We already cleaned all the blood but its hard to keep away the bugs. For right now we put gauze and tape to keep those bugs away.

I am sure it is ok to cover it a bit, but instead I would use a product like SWAT that has fly repellant. I use powdered garlic on wounds. It has healing properties and repels insects.

My buck Puck got into a fray with Apollo (my other buck) last spring, broke his horn similar to that and I didn't do anything. Flies were not a problem at that time, so I separated them and left it alone. It healed just fine. I agree you need to use some type of fly/bug repellent, but I would not wrap it. It needs to breathe to heal.
