It's that time of year again! The first kidding date is quickly approaching. I have 6 does kidding this year in March and April.
First up is my herd queen Brownie, bred to Bodhi. She will be 9 years old and on her 8th freshening. She likes to have between 2-4 kids. She's due March 10th. Here she is (right) with her daughter, Primrose. I'm thinking twins or triplets for her.

Next up is Red, bred to Bodhi. She will be 6 and on her 5th freshening. I don't know how many kids she has had with each freshening but last year was her first year kidding with me and she had triplets. I'm thinking she'll have triplets again. She's due March 19th.

Next is Mia. She will be a 1 year old FF. She was bred through the fence so I don't know who she is bred to. Her due date is March 24th. She is very fluffy so there's nothing to take an udder picture of yet. I'm thinking 1-2 for her. Clearly, pregnancy has not impacted her climbing ability.

Shortly after Mia we have Primrose. She is bred to Jake and due March 27th. She will be a 2 year old FF. She's pretty fluffy as well but her teats are starting to poke through. I'm thinking 2 for her.

Yes she does! It sort of comes and goes. This is probably the darkest her tail has been.

That's really cool! My Prim has a black tip of her tail, but it's nowhere near that distinct.

I'll have to get some better pictures of her tail tomorrow. Brownie has black in her tail as well.

Here's some goats tails for you 😁 first is Prim, then Brownie. It's raining here today so they're a bit damp. They both have a bit of brown mixed in but their tail is largely black

In some other news, Bunni is taking the doe code to the max. She was due to come into heat yesterday and I intended to breed her. She didn't come in so I thought maybe she's just out of season. It is almost March after all. I took a closer look at her and her udder seems like it may be plumping up so I got her on the milk stand this morning. She doesn't have any milk in her udder but it definitely has some substance to it. Her vulva is pretty elongated too so I felt around and I had to really dig around but I'm pretttyyy sure I felt babies in her. Soooo maybe due April 4th still and she's been having false heats?

Here she was February 17th

Right?! That never happens! I'm really hoping she's bred. I was really counting on having the extra milk from the Nubians this year.

We're getting closer! Brownie is on day 142 today. I didn't get great pictures this morning but you can see Brownie's udder in the background here. That's Bunni in the front.
