I have just recently discovered raspberry bushes growing on our property. I've heard they are good for giving to pregnant does. Our girls have about 3 weeks till kidding is that o.k.? Why are they good to use? and how much? Don't the thorns hurt them?
GG rasberry leaves are very good for them anytime but I forget why. Thorns dont bother them a bit they suck up blackberry vines like spaghetti!
Its the red rasp that are good for pregnant goats helps with kidding. dont know why though. Mine love them thorns and all. We have black rasp and they can take it to the ground in no time
Raspberry leaves are a uterine tonic. I know midwives that recommend them for human mommies, so I imagine they have a similar effect on the goats. Basically they help strengthen the uterus to ease labor and delivery.
Thankyou for your replies everyone, I just wanted to make sure they were o.k. for pregnancy. The red Raspberries are growing wild in the buck paddock so I had to sneak in while the boys were eating their breakfast lol BUT THEN..... they sprung me lol, I had to quickly pretent I was just walking around, that must've seemed boreing to them because they left me alone lol. I took the leaves to our pregnant girls which they quickly devoured with great pleasure.
