I have almost no idea what I'm doing when it comes to registering. I finally got transfers figured out. But now I'm trying to register a new goat and am so confused as to if I can even do it! I just bought a three month old doeling yesterday. The owner does not register her goats but both the sire and dam were registered. She sent me photos of their papers and turns out her name is not on there as owner. She is not a member of ADGA. So I have registration numbers for both sire and dam but...by all the paperwork I'm finding it seems as tho I can't register her? Is there a way to go about doing this?! Please help!

Ugh I’m going through something similar. Finally found an old owner to help me a bit. If she isn’t a member of ADGA she could get the old owner of the sire and dam to do an online transfer (I think) or sign the papers so she can send them in. Once the sire and dam are in her name you should be able to register the kid under your own herd name (if she were a member and her herd name was Goat Farm, she doeling would be registered under the herd name Goat Farm since the old owner owned the dam at time of breeding). That or what Lil Boogie said.

Also if she does put them in her name, she will need to put the date she bought them not the current date. At minimum backdate to before the doe was bred or it will not allow you to register them because then they will say the doe was owned by the previous owners and they would have to register the kid.

No, the owner on the cert just signs the transfer info. She can get them in her name as long as they are signed by the previous owners, then give you a signed application for registration for your doe. All without being a member.

Actually, if she is going to do that, she can send in the transfer as well as the application for the doe at the same time and have the papers for your doe sent directly to you. They can transfer the does and register your doe in one transaction.

Yes last year was P. Sounds like a dang headache lol i hope you get it figured out ADGA can take thier sweet time doing things just be aware. Although my kid papers have come back faster this year.
Awesome! Thanks! Yes its been kind of hard, especially since I don't know what I'm doing. lol. But I think I'm figuring it out! I just hope the seller is willing to work with me!
I had heard some horrors stories with ADGA lately! But I just registered/transferred three goats at the beginning of this year and they came back within about a month! So I'm hopeful these next ones will go just as quick!

Yeah when i first joined people were up to 2 years behind waiting on papers to come back this year they are doing much better .. my first transfer ever took 4 months to come back... this year within 2 weeks lol. Although when it comes to performance programs people are still waiting for show wins etc from 2-3 years ago. Definitely hope the seller will help you out its kind of like a car title..lol just gotta get the proper signatures and get stuff transferred to you. Good luck
