I did not get the mini tip when I needed to get a new iron last year and I kinda wish I had so I could disbud the NDs earlier - but it must not bother me too much as I have not bought the tip yet. But the regular tip works just fine - I just wait for a couple more days.
A friend who'd previously had the X30 got the 50 this season and she says it is more powerful and gives her more time leeway to disbud. She loves how it does the job on her NDs.
I have both now and with out a doubt - the 50 keeps it's heat a lot better which I love when I have a bunch of kids to disbud or even just a couple. But the 30 is nice since it has the smaller tip. What I have found though with the 50 is - one burn and I am done - but that could also be because my 30 is older (which is why I bought a new one) that I am seeing a difference.
