The Icelandic goat is in danger of extinction.

Even though the Icelandic goat has survived in Iceland since the settlement in the ninth century, the strain is in danger of imminent extinction. Now, there are only about 800 goats left in Iceland. The Icelandic Goat Conservation Center at Háafell works for the preservation of the rare species.
