I don't think I would use it in their pens. If I have a patch of ice in the pens that is a problem I sprinkle dirt, sand, manure, etc, over it to give them some traction.

I should have been more specific...sorry. I meant salt on the sidewalk....they have access to my whole back yard including my backdoor entrance....which can be a real b^&*% cause they really like to poop on my back steps. So what I mean is is it safe to put ice salt on my back steps??

I would not put ice melting compounds anywhere that the goats could or would have access to it. The ice salt will also pit any concrete it comes in contact with, so that is another reason to not use it.
