Scours in Bottle Baby

Hello! I have a bottle baby that ive talked about before with his other friend. At first he never took the bottle but now he takes it like a champ. I was giving him 4 ounces 4 times a day (10% of his body mass divided into four, hes 11 pounds about). I noticed he started getting wet, almost dog poop shaped scours though with a yellow mucous in it. He just had his CDt vax a week ago. He also had some on the skin medicine for parasites, especially lice when the vet visited. Hes close to 2 months old. I started giving him only 3 ounces 4 times a day about 3 days ago but he still seems to get these scours. Aside from the scours he seems fine just a big belly compared to his friend, but hes not as tall as him either. Should I take him off of milk for the day? The scours dont have a smell to them that I know of and I read that the yellow in it could mean hes getting too much milk. Thanks.

would also like the mention that everyone else appears healthy and I gave him some probios two days ago as well. Hes also a pgymy dwarf baby and he normally eats on hay as well throughout the day. He had scours before when i started him on four, so i lessened the amount, it solidified, brought him back up and now even bringing the milk amount down doesnt seem to be helping.

UPDATE: he just pooped while I was writing this. Its now more wet and not even solid anymore but no yellow in it, its just brown.

I had wieghed him yesterday twice. He weighs about 11 pounds both times. He also just got CDT vax a week ago and gets his booster in two weeks. Otherwise he and the others arent on any sort of preventions. He isnt dehydrated, perfect, soft coat, etc. Im taking him off the milk today and supplementing electrolytes. I believe the milk may the problem as it was before

So we took him to the vet and yes he does have a cocci count. We were prescribed meds and one our doelings has been starting to have dog-log appearant stools with now mucous in it as well. Vet said if she did start to have weird stools to go ahead and treat with the drench he gave us for our boy for five days. Is it safe to go ahead and treat her as well?

All kids 10 days old to 3 weeks old and up to weening should be on coccidia prevention. I would not wait until symtoms appear as Coccidia does a huge amount if damage to the gut in a very short time.

What do you recommend using for prevention ?
There are a few products..I like Toltrazuril. My second choice would be , Sulfa Drug like Dimethox. It's injectable given orally. Then corid which is easy to get. (We have direction on how to use corid effectively in files in Health and wellness)

Doing a cocci prevention is wise when you have an active case. So treating is ok.
Found a gallon of corid in my storage today ! I see people say to give it orally or mix it in their water. The vet when he gave us the "cocci cure" only labeled it as "amprolium" but i believe thats the same thing as corid? Should I lock the others who arent on the vets solution in the barn and give them some corid in their water mix? I dont want the ones who are already on amprolium to get more of it
Always give it individually. You can't guarantee that they will drink enough water to get proper dosage.

I wouldnt do in the water source. There is good instructions on how to mix and dilute per animal in the health and wellness files above.

Best wishes

Should my older doe be getting her own dosages too? Shes 2 years old
I went ahead and copied for you..here is from medicine cabinet 2020

Corid/Amprolium--Mixing in drinking water is not a good method, some goats may not drink enough to do any good. Corid is available in liquid or soluble powder.
Do know, Corid does not deplete thiamine in the goat, corid mimics thiamine, making cocci go to it and kills the cocci.

Mixing undiluted Corid liquid:
Mix 6 tablespoons corid to 16 oz water....
Or the Pre mixed- Shake well before use.
solution give as follows
then dose it at ...
30cc per 100lbs
15cc per 50lbs
7.5 per 25 lbs
treat individually for 5 days

20% Powdered mixture: 3 ounces(10.5 tblspns) to 1 quart water
Mix solution well. Shake well before use.
then dose it at ...
30cc per 100lbs
15cc per 50lbs
7.5 per 25 lbs
and so on
treat individually for 5 days

Watch for signs of polio. If you see signs, stop corid and dose with thiamine every 6 hours until 24 hours of no more symptoms. I also do recommend b complex for 3 days after using corid. Some never give it and goats do just fine. It's just a preference.

Best wishes
Thank you so much ♥ Our vet told us 1cc per 5lbs and thats what ive been doing. Hopefully thats about right, as my youngest is 10lbs and takes 2ccs every day. Last day of treatment today and he doesnt seem to have any weird stools anymore. Ill get everyone else started as well today hopefully to ensure the cocci doesnt go crazy, but thank god the only horrible symptoms ive seen fromt he two being treated is the stool.
