how much selenium are most of you using pre and post birth. Any one have a suggested dosing calculation and has any one ever had problems with selenium over dose because grain has selenium added to it.

Do you mean the paste/gel or the injection?
Neither is going to be too much if selenium is already in the feed.
And welcome to TGS!

When BoSe is dosed in the proper amounts there is no danger.
Our feed has some Se as do the loose minerals.
We live in selenium def area so everyone gets it right before breeding & shortly before kidding. I have found newborns rarely need it.

How deficient is your area? There is selenium in my grain and mineral but it isn't enough and I still have to give shots. I give one about 4 weeks prior to kidding.

dosage for BoSe is 1cc per 40lbs

though very deficient kids at birth can get up to 1cc according to my vet. It did save one of my goats. Its fast acting and not long lasting. So you want to give minerals with selenium in it too.
