So I've been looking at places to get goats, and I'm thinking that an older Nigerian dwarf wether would be best. First of all, I haven't found very many older wethers for sale. Am I missing something or are they just less common? I HAVE found a lot of 'senior' does and bucks though. They are all about 4 years old tops... That doesn't seem very old to me! Is there something else that makes them "senior"?

I also heard that you can't show wethers... Is that true?

Well they're mostly just pets and companions so they don't get sold around like does and bucks do. And a senior doe isn't actually a senior like we think of. It's just a doe that has freshened. :)

You can't show a whether unless you're in 4h or the high school version of 4h whose acronym I forget. :p Or at least that's how it is where I live..

Senior is any goat over 2-3 years of age.

You can show wethers, you have to be in 4H or FFA, and I THINK, unless they are a pack animal, they have to be under a year old to show.
