We have a Savannah/Spanish doeling (10 days old) that has badly swollen back legs. The swelling is to the point that she has bloody plasma discharge coming from between her hooves and she can barely walk. We live in cattle country so our local vet has no experience with goats and is unsure of what may be the problem. Anyone seen this or have any idea what may be going on?

Oh dear, is she getting around okay?

I'm sorry, I don't have any advice. I hope it's not frostbite. I've seen two goats that actually lost their back feet/hooves due to frostbite as newborns. It was tough for them to keep them mobile as adults due to sores on the ends of the legs developing.

How does the skin look? What's her temp? Joint ill can cause swelling joints/legs. I would start with a shot of bananine for pain and swelling if her temp is not sub. 1/4cc pee 25 pounds
