Silent pneumonia

One of our new does seems to have silent pneumonia, we gave aspirin and LA 200 along with supportive herbs. Any advice or tips? Is this good to give? She’s had a fever of 106.8 it went down to 105.4 an hour ago, she’s staring off, kind of restless. Poor girl I feel so bad for her

Do you have Banimine? If so, give it.

@happybleats @GoofyGoat
I would give B complex as a support. Cool compresses behind her ears and arm pits to help reuce fever faster. Banamine would be best if you have it,

If you can get banamine maybe you can get nuflor too. If you can that stuff is awesome for pneumonia. Keep a eye on fluids! If dehydrated you will need to tube or give IV/SQ fluids

Excenel is great for pneumonia if you Can get it. Yes, banamine (1cc per 100 lbs) watch her temp like a hawk and support her rumen with probios in between antibiotics. I hope she gets better quickly. If you can put a bucket of electrolytes out with her water that can help her stay hydrated.

Thank you so much! Her temp is down this morning to 101.5 I will go out and check again to make sure what I read was right 😂
Where would I get fluids to give to her?

I get mine at the feed store or TSC my goats really like the Farnham brand horse apple flavored electrolytes but gatorade will do in a pinch.

Glad her temp is down. As long as it's within normal range (101.5 to 103.5) there is no need for banamine. But I would get some to keep on hand in case the need arises. While la 200 is not the best choice for pneumonia..it is better then no treatment. If you can get nuflor (3 cc per 100# sub q) from your vet..that is great..if not continue la 200 for 5 to 7 days. 1 cc per 20 pounds sub q once a day.
Continue daily b complex and the probiotics 3 to 4 hours after antibiotics . Good job!!

Thank you so much!! I appreciate your help, she acted normal today just a tad bit off I’m wondering if this could be from her being bred a week ago, I didn’t see it happen but she was in heat and with our buck 🤷🏻‍♀️
no fever at all today, no signs of being sick other than just nibbling on her grain and not wanting the whole amount

Oh that is great she is doing better! I have found LA200 to do a fairly good job if it’s given fast. If not it’s not super affective. You might have hit her with it right in time. Just keep a eye on her.
Those are good electrolytes mentioned. If she seems to be consuming fluids on her own I would make a batch up and put out for her. If she starts getting super dehydrated then start drenching. Ringers you would have to get from a vet but I bet she is far from needing that at the moment.

Since she seems a bit off give B complex 1-2 x a day until she's back to her old self. Even if twmpnis down. Somtimes they still just feel blah

Good job!!
