Hi everyone,

Little Tango got into some trouble when I wasn't watching and gave himself a large gash (not deep) on his back. He doesn't seem bothered by it, and is acting like his normal self.

I applied a liberal spritz of Blue Kote- I'm wondering how often I should apply the spray? I'm sad because his beautiful white coat now has a purple stain (IT'S A MOON SPOT!). :(

Thanks!

The blue cote will bd rubbed off. I would apply untill the would is a better mass of fur. Flies will bother him.

This time of year, I would also apply a wound spray that keeps flies away like Catron. Keep the area clean, and make sure it is not so deep it requires stitches and keep an eye on it for infection. If the area is not bleeding and has scabbed over, it should heal on its own.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. Thankfully, it wasn't a deep wound that needs stitches. It looks like it had already started scabbing over when I saw it (it was fresh, I check my babies multiple times a day).

I'll keep applying the Blue Kote and make sure the flied stay away.
