My doe kidded 2.5 weeks ago. She’s a 4 year old FF mutt of Nubian, togg, oberhasli extraction. I think predominantly Nubian. She came from a visitor farm called Sprout Creek near Poughkeepsie NY. They are a dairy so she’s from decent milk lines. Anyway, I just separated her single Doeling Minnie, 2 nights ago. Yesterday am she gave me 3lbs 12oz and this morning she gave me 4lbs 14 ozs!!! I timed myself and it took me 10 minutes. I’m getting better at milking with both hands. I have shoulder problems that I think milking will be a perfect PT for ! It tires my shoulders in the exact way PT does!
im so proud of Maggie, I’ve also never thought about milk the way I do now. I respect the heck out of it and this raw goats milk is so far superior to and fancy farmers market milk. This production is pretty good right?
You are correct about PT for an injured shoulder in rehab. Please be aware of your posture too. Also.after milking that Jersey( lol just kidding) be sure and slowly stretch..
Glad to hear she is gifting you such precious milk. Take care.
She’s come so far. I still have to tie one or both feet but for now it lessens frustration and speeds the ordeal. Considering she wouldn’t even let Minnie nurse to begin with.
