If you cannot sell him right away would you be willing to loan him to us before you weather him?

We may be. In the end we are still not sure about the best way to go. I just want to do a good job by our girls and have the offspring be high quality. That way, if we have more than two babies we could hopefully find good homes for them.

Yes, 1st gen are not register-able. We thought the pregnancies would be a bit easier on the girls because the babies would be smaller. Also, we have heard that people really like the mini nubians and we are willing to take the time to build a herd of good ones with really good starting stock. Our girls are from a wonderful ranch in Arizona that has award-winning goats. They come from excellent milking lineage.

We have talked to Sterling Acres about driveway breeding, but I don't think I am good enough at detecting our girls heat in time to get them to be bred. She has wonderful looking bucks. I just worry that we would not be able to time it right.

You register them with the MDGA as 1st generation

As the weather gets cooler the does go into stronger and stronger heats. I usually can tell pretty easily by November or December.

but I know how the Driveway breeding thing can be difficult especially when you are a distance from the buck.

I know the bucks she has she bought 2 from me -- I would go with Atreyu if you do breed to one of her bucks. Just my opinion

    He is very handsome.

If we can predict their heats better in the next few months, then I won't worry about it too much.

Nubians rarely have heat cycles before August so dont worry about catching them cycling till September.

They had a cycle in July, that was a huge suprise. I was expecting September like you said. I was reading that it might have been that the days were really warm, but a few of nights got very cool. We will start looking out and writing down when we see them in heat. I hope the heats will become more obvious like you are saying.
