Nice lines but that doesn't mean they combined well to produce lovely goats. I have a Red Hot N Blue daughter and she is very, very dairy and correct in just about every way - BUT, her medial could have more definition and her fore udder could be more extended, also it'd be nice if her teats were bigger. Improvements in these areas seen in her daughter's udder.
I have a doe who goes back to Rosasharn Uni on both sides, however, her dam's udder was very loosely attached. Although I am crossing my fingers for a nicer udder from my girl, she will most likely fallow her mommy's suit.
Thanks for the input so far everyone! And I definitely agree, pedigree is only part of the journey! What the parents produced when their genetics combined and the overall conformation of the does matters more. I guess I'll find out more when I meet them tomorrow.
We look at papers too-But some of our nicest built goats have the least "ennoblements" on their papers. Good luck choosing!!!
No.... of course not.... THAT thought never crossed my mind.... BUT when she goes missing it WASNT MEEEEEE.... OK OK I cant lie....it was LIZ I TOLD HER NOT TOO!!!! BUT SHES A VICIOUS ANIMAL!!!
AMANDA!!!! NOOOOOOOO I thought...... I thought we were BLOODS!!!! Im gonna remember this!!! OMG SHES GONNA KILL MEEEEE MEH.....How about I just steal Jumper and run away!!
I decided not to get Blue, but got Thumper and Shiloh. I'll post pictures soon. They are still settling in I feel like I am really still learning, but like I could trust my eye enough to determine if these girls were what I was looking for! Thanks for all the help! Both are just 2 and haven't freshened yet, so I am going to breed them soon for summer kids!
why didn't you get blue?? IMO that's the best pedigree listed.. and i've met both her parents and her dam's grandparents
just remember that summer is hard on them when pregnant and birthing especially and a summer kidding can cause kids to be less thrifty and they tend to get parasites easier.
I am reserving Blue pending a clean bill of health. I just didn't want to bring her home just yet. Since her current owner knows her well she would be able to better recognize "odd" behavior if something does develop with Blue. It's winter, she's low on the chain of command, and it could very well be nothing. I just wanted to do what is best for her and make sure she is healthy I'll keep you posted on if she joins my herd! Snapped a quick few shots of the girls. Thumper is the buckskin, Shiloh the white with spots.
