The twin boys are 8 weeks old and big. They eat a lot of hay and grass but still milk the doe dry. We would like to start milking her for us now before theyslow down too much and she starts to dry up. Considering separating the boys from her at night and milking her in the am before putting them back together for the day. How do people usually do it? Transition to people getting all of the milk? Suggestions appreciated.

I have been separating my Nubians kids from 2 weeks at night and milking in the am. They seem no worse for wear , and I get 2 quarts a day :)
I am curious as to the answer as to when to start milking in the evening though, so I will watch this thread! The kids are now 2 days from 8 weeks old.

Good luck with them!

I do what Stephanie does, separate them at night and milk in the morning. i get just over a quart every day. i've been told does peak at 3 months, so you still have time. some does also wean when kids are between 6-12 months, so you have lots of time still to get milk. :)

try putting up the kids at night and milk in the morning.
