I read alot of ya'll posts and have decided banding is going to have to be a practice I get use to. I want some suggestions on what type of bander to get and from where, also what do I need to use medicine wise when I band. All med help is appreciated. Thanks Leslie
I use the blue handled elastrator from jeffers www.jefferslivestock.com The green rubberbands are what you want to get as well. Meds wise - you can give tetanous either the antitoxin or the toxoid (you need to wait to give the toxoid after they are 9 weeks old. So what I would do is banding earlier like 6 weeks or so and giving the antixoin).
I really do believe all banders are alike. It really does not matter so whatever you can get cheapest. Green bands. I do not use any medication at all.
I totally agree with stacey...... But ...if you have to band later ...at 3 months old and there testies are a bit larger....I do give banamine also ...to help with swelling and pain.... :greengrin:
