So I never noticed this but I was looking back in old photos from winter and it looks like my boys have no tails because they are flat down to their butts. I wonder if this is a common winter thing?

Today is a chilly day, and I noticed Eddie’s tail down and both of their coats are puffing.

Does anybody ever see their goats’ tails in winter? Is it common that they just blend into the fluff and stay down as an instinct to protect their booties?

I've never noticed. This morning it was chilly here and some of my does had their tail down. It could be that the bucks were spitting at them through the fence though. They looked super offended that the boys were showing interest in them. But I'm sure now I'll be paying more attention to see if they do keep their tails down in cold weather.

Our goats put their tails down in winter for insulation purposes. :)

If they have their tail down and they are shivering then that could be a problem. Although a little shivering is normal.
