Given choices how would you vote- what are the best grass hays for goats?
we were looking at timothy, rye, or__ something fairly drought tolerant is ideal. Right now we have one field in alfalfa, and the other is in pea and barley. Next year we will replace the pea/barley field for sure...

Really depends on what is best in your area. Around here in Ohio, you can find Timothy or Orchard grass but usually not any of the others.

Check into your native grasses. Since they are native to the area, they will do better in less than ideal conditions than improved grasses will. I know that timothy requires a lot of water, so if you don't have an irrigation system you probably don't want it. Where are you located?

You could probably pick up some more gated pipe at farm sales if you wanted to do that.
