I built the monstrosity because i need a stanchion fast. My wife has a bad back and i needed a stanchion that was high enough so she would not bend over.

the monstrosity taught me several things.
1. the height was perfect
2. the steps were to high the nigies didn't like them
3. It was very inefficient when milking two goats. too many steps
4. goats like to play ring around the rosie, or all around the mulberry bush. in the milking room

So i redid the stanchion. I got a list of meterials and went to home depot as we walked in my wife saw some Husky shelf's and sad that what i want. I said they cost to much and are out of our budget. in the end the shelf's only added $15.00 so we brought the shelf home. I will switch to my phone and post some pictures.

As you can see we can milk two goats with out taking a step. the white boxes are booster stools for the nigies. but when we milk the Lamacha's they are not in the way.
the tool chest is our medical cabinet.
there is no playing ring around the rosie
the steps are just the height the nigies like.

I think we have covered all the issues the Monstrosity had.

This is so awesome! You guys did a great job! You'll have to get pictures of it in use to share! :) Then I could really use your help building a goat stand that won't kill my back lol! We don't milk ours and don't have a big enough barn to build anything like this (we have fold up stand for shows, and old stand for home use is kept in the trailer).
I told my husband we need to add on to the barn, so I can get a stand that suits my back. I've had issues with my back and the bending over makes it worse. With the virus issues, I'm going to have to avoid therapy for a while :(
