Things happen when you live on a farm....good things..and the things..... that are not so great...

This morning I went out to feed my goats and give them water. My ND buck Gizmo is in a big pasture that is big enough to have 10 goats in it. I have a kidding pen that I also use for a quarantine pen. I have my two newest doe's in it. It is a small pen so ive been letting them out sometimes to have some fun in the big pen with Gizmo. Welllll today I was in the pen with them doing sone work and Trixy my Lamancha/Nubain doeling that was born Feb/4/2021....... I dont think she is in heat because she ran away from him but he still managed to breed her before I could stop him. I WILL NOT be letting them back out together AT ALL. She is growing like crazy and almost the size of a half grown Lamancha doe.

Here is Trixy and here is also Gizmo.

Little rascal!!
Tell me about it lol I have bad news...she is in heat.....
Oh my.
Lamancha and Nubian breeds are both seasonal breeders and typically don't come into season until the fall of the year. With this doeling being only approximately 2 months old, are you sure it's a heat cycle and not something else going on with her.

Yep...shes in heat... Wagging her tail for my buck...
Yeah its bad... I will most likely have a blood test done on her in a couple months..

Is giving lute now not an option? Would you rather have the pregnancy confirmed 40-50 days later and then have her deliver the under developed fetus? Are you considering letting her carry to term? Won't she cycle back into season in 21 days if the breeding didn't take? Just wondering how this type of thing is handled in a doeling so extremely young.

I really dont think she will take to the breeding because she was just coming into heat. And today she is definitely in heat. I would do the lute but she is a very healthy strong & fast growing girl plus the buck is a ND so the kids would hopefully be smaller then a normal Lamancha/Nubian. She is also a wide doe so thats one good thing.
You can do a blood test 30 days after breeding. No reason to wait 2 months. I wouldn't be luting her since there is a good chance she isn't pregnant. But a blood test wouldn't hurt to be positive.

Thanks for the advice it really helps! And today she is in FULL standing heat like she wont stop standing by the little pen the buck is in... I am VERY MUCH hoping she dose not take. I really don't think she will take but I guess we shall see...
