Thoughts on the Breeder listings page...

Discussion in 'TGS Announcements & Help' started by jdgray716, Nov 21, 2009.

  1. My idea was to have not only breeders by state but by breed as well.

    What do you all think?

Do you mean like to have the breeds listed as opposed to states? Or to have Breeds listed within states?

I think that most of the breeders listed by state also have the breeds they raise listed.

if you mean have a listing of all the breeds then everyone will have to resubmit their info -- I a not going through and sorting out the breeds, sorry thats just not in my time ability

  4. Re: Thoughts on the Vreeder listings page...

Oh yes, I agree that folks would re list but I was thinking that if a breeder of a certain breed started a thread for that breed folks could add to it. Stacy, it should be no work on you.

    Example:

    Subject: Boar Goat breeders
    Body reads very simply:
    Billy Bob
    Boar goats are us farm
    Tin Buck too.
    call me at 123-123-1234
    website .....com
    email us [email protected]

Once this topic is started another Boar beeder would just add there info.

    Sandy Jane
    Boars fall here farm
    Antartica
    No calls please PM
    Website.......net
    email us [email protected]

    Does this make since?

This way if someone only wanted to find the boar breeders they could without going thru every state. Again it is just a thought but something folks might like?

If there is a breeder listing it will be by breed in aphabetical order and I will do it like the breeder listing by state so I can control who actually gets put on the breed listing.

That is a very good idea... BUT you may have a lot of listing to do Stacey if you do this manually yourself. Cause what if someone has several different breeds like 3 or 4. Then you will be reposting and reposting. If you don't mind all the work or if members could post it themselves than I guess it could work.

For example... I would have 3 breeds after this season. Nigerians, Nubians, and Mini Nubians. That is 3 listings.

If you do, you may want to place one for Mini breeds like Mini-Nubians etc...

I might just make one section for Mini dairy goats or just do Mini Nubians as the other mini breeds havent taken off as much to my knowledge.

i dont mind multi posting -- I prefer it to be one concise thread categorized alphabetically -- just like the listing by state.

    Keeps it easy to navigate.

If you think it's managable to list multiple breed listings per member than that's great. I love the idea of being able to see what breed everyone owns in one area listing. Like other "Nigerian Dwarf" enthusiasts for example.

I will work on it when I get some free time

  15. I think "Myotonic (Fainting) Goats" would work. This way were are using the proper term but for those that are not aware can still see the common name.

I am very exsited you all we open to this idea. Can't wait to see how it works out.

  17. Stacey, that is too cool and so sweet. So many other places feel it is their forum like it or leave it. I know I am not the only one who feels like this, but thank you for always thinking of us even when it is not something you have to do. We love you for that. :grouphug:   :grouphug:

We could not ask for a better owner/Amin. to such a great place.
